3 on 3 basketball tournament planned

The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host the second annual 3 on 3 Spring Slam Basketball Tournament Saturday at Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Drive.

This basketball tournament provides young players an opportunity to compete with their peers in an organized 3 on 3 format and promotes physical activity through participation and encourages recreation and leisure among youth.

Prizes will be awarded for first and second places in each division, and an award will also be given in the consolation bracket. For information, call 267-5700.

The Sunrise Children's Foundation

will host a dinner and silent and live art auction at 6 p.m. Saturday the MGM Grand Conference Center. Admission is $165 and is by reservation only. Call 731-8373.

The Citizens Action Group

will host a public comment forum on police relations in the Bolden Area Command at 10 a.m. Thursday at the command headquarters, 1851 Stella Lake Drive. For more information, call 455-7240 or 455-7277.

The Collings Foundation's Wings of Freedom

Tour will be from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Henderson Executive Airport. Visitors can tour the B-17 Flying Fortress and the B-24 Liberator for $8 for adults and $4 for children. Donations help support the maintenance of the aircraft. Call (978) 562-9182 for information.

Kay Rohde of Interpretations

for Lake Mead National Recreation Area will speak about "What's Happening at Lake Mead" at the Gem Club's monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Multi-Use building, 1204 Sixth St., Boulder City. Call Sue at 293-7853.

Dr. Olivia Purdie

and Dr. Ford Franklin of Black Mountain Chiropractic will speak about the causes and prevention of low back pain at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Multi-Generation Center, 250 Green Valley Parkway. Admission is free. Call 267-5800.

Two high school seniors,

Ann Larquier, a student at Douglas High School in Minden, and Alana White, a student at Silver Stage High School in Silver Springs, have been chosen to represent the state at the 2004 National Youth Science Camp June 24-July 19 in Virginia.
