Georgina Alvarez

Georgina Alvarez, 76, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 15, 1928, in Cuba. A resident for eight years, she was a retired accountant for an international market.

She is survived by her husband, Wilberto; one son, William Alvarez; one daughter, Lucy Rodriguez; numerous brothers and sisters; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Charles E. Clark

Charles E. Clark, 65, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1938, in DuQuoin, Ill. A resident for seven years, he was a retired federal government engineering technician and a Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by four daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Fern.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services and burial will be in Illinois.

Teresa L. Collins

Teresa L. Collins, 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Inglewood, Calif. A resident for five years, she was a retired bank vice president.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Clifford; one daughter, Julia Collins of Buena Park, Calif.; two sons, Robert Collins of Victorville, Calif., and Andre Collins of Buena Park; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sharon Lynn Cordero

Sharon Lynn Cordero, 55, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born April 25, 1948, in Illinois. A resident for three years, she was a retail sales agent.

She is survived by one daughter, Porsche; her mother, Sarah Jacobs; one brother, Jerry Jacobs; and three sisters, Noreen Jacobs, Helen Kaufman and Ruth Ascher.

Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

John Dohanich Jr.

John Dohanich Jr., 86, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. He was born June 3, 1917, in Helen, Pa. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired aircraft mechanic and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Gherman-Dohanich; one son, David Free of North Las Vegas; and one daughter, Janet Anderson of New York.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Arthur Field

Arthur Field, 78, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 1, 1926, in Alberta. A resident for 31 years, he was a retired bus driver.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta; one son, Daniel Field of Long Beach, Calif.; three stepsons, Robert Willoby of Hemet, Calif., Rick Willoby of Minnesota and Jim Willoby of Tucson; one stepdaughter, Mary Sanger of Garberville, Calif.; two brothers, Victor Field and Bill Field, both of Canada; and one grandchild.

Gayle Ftacnik

Gayle Ftacnik, 63, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 24, 1940, in Lexington, Ky. A resident for 11 years, she was a trolley operator for the city government.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Lee; two sons, Buddy Gene York and Jerry Steve Fuller, and one daughter, Stacey Lynn, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Louis G. 'Midnight' Grey

Louis G. "Midnight" Grey, 73, of Las Vegas died March 27 in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 28, 1930, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 48 years, he was a former showroom captain at the Union Plaza.

He is survived by three sons, Anthony Grey, Derrick Grey and Louie Carrideo, all of Las Vegas.

Bertie Hanlon

Bertie Hanlon, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in McLeansboro, Ill. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired hotel auditor and a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Harris, and two sons, Gerald Grossman and Mark Grossman, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Arley Ross of Phoenix; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until a 3 p.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Irene M. Jonas

Irene M. Jonas, 82, of Las Vegas and Crandon, Wis., died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Milwaukee. A winter resident of Las Vegas for 10 years, she was a retired assembler.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; and two sisters, Rosemarie of Milwaukee and Dorothy of Muskego, Wis.

Harriet Jean Lanier

Harriet Jean Lanier, 60, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A resident for 10 years, she was born Oct. 24, 1943, in Illinois.

She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Rushing of Panama City, Fla.; her father, Joseph M. Bayer of Las Vegas; one sister, Connie Draves of Albuquerque; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Helen M. Robichaud

Helen M. Robichaud, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born May 22, 1921, in Moncton, New Brunswick. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald A.; two sons, Eric J. Robichaud and Eugene J. Robichaud, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Theresa Reisenberg of Montreal and Frances Surrette of Moncton; and two brothers, Guy McCarthy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Tim McCarthy of Moncton.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Virginia Sanchez

Virginia Sanchez, 85, of Las Vegas died March 24 in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Texas. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by one son, Adolfo Ramirez; two daughters, Paula Scrivner and Connie Mandol; one brother, John Sanchez; two sisters, Sarah Phelps and Mary Bustamante; nine grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

A vigil will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Gertrude C. Schmidt

Gertrude C. Schmidt, 85, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Wisconsin. A resident for two years, she was a sewing teacher.

She is survived by one daughter, Penny Mazen; and two grandchildren.

Russell E. 'Sarge' Smith

Russell E. "Sarge" Smith, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Marceline, Mo. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired Air Force master sergeant and World War II and Korean War Army and Air Force veteran.

He is survived by three sisters, Mary Farringer of Tennessee, Neva Briggs of Iowa and Gwen Groves of Indiana.

A private burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

John Strauskulage

John Strauskulage, 85, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, died Tuesday in a Sulphur Springs hospital. He was born March 1, 1919, in Pennsylvania. A former resident of Virgin, Utah, he was a construction laborer with Macco Construction in Las Vegas and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Janice Jenkins of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Ann Diobold of California; two stepsons, Roy McGahee of Sulphur Springs and Mike McGahee of Marshall, Texas; one stepdaughter, Lee Ann Sparks of Winnsboro, Texas; one sister; many grandchildren; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Tapp Funeral Home, Sulphur Springs, is handling arrangements.
