Tickets available for 'Sweeney Todd'
The Community College of Southern Nevada Foundation will present a scholarship performance of the Stephen Sondheim musical "Sweeney Todd" in cooperation with the Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra Friday at the Cheyenne campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.

Pahrump to host animal benefit
Pahrump All Animal Extravaganza will hold an event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Case's Country Corner, 6211 S. Quarter Horse Ave., Pahrump, to benefit animals.
The organizations committed are Southern Nye County Friends of Animals, Miracle Horse Rescue, Spay Our Strays and Big Cat Encounter.
The event will inform and educate the public on what the organizations do to help the plight of animals in Southern Nevada and also to let the public know what they can do to help with spay/neuter programs, rescue and adoptions of stray, abused and homeless animals.
All proceeds will be for the welfare and care of rescued animals, and spay/neuter programs.

Light of Hope ceremony scheduled
District Court and the CASA program will host the fifth annual Light of Hope ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Family Court Atrium, 601 N. Pecos Road.
Beginning at noon the public is invited to visit the Family Court Atrium where child welfare service, treatment providers and adoption agencies will be available to answer questions and provide information.
The Light of Hope ceremony raises awareness of the need for permanent homes for child abuse and neglect victims. Call 455-4306 for information.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's
20th annual fund-raising event to honor Station Casinos will begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Texas Station. All funds raised at the event go directly to finding a cure for diabetes. Tickets are $275. Call 732-4795.
Valley of Fire State Park
will host a wildflower excursion beginning at noon Saturday at the Valley of Fire Visitor Center. Entrance fee to the park is $5 per vehicle. Call 875-4141 for information.
