Glenn L. Armstrong

Glenn L. Armstrong, 80, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Rawlings, Md. A resident for eight years, he was a retired oil industry manager and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Jean Sherman; two sons, Kenneth W. Armstrong of Spokane, Wash., and Larry W. Armstrong of San Clemente, Calif.; four brothers, Lt. Col. C.H. Armstrong and Lt. Col. James Morgan Armstrong, Brownlee Armstrong and William Armstrong, and one sister, Margaret Lucille Stair, all of Rawlings, Md.; and one grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

Carolyn Ann Bobek-Osborn

Carolyn Ann Bobek-Osborn, 60, of Henderson, died Wednesday in Henderson. She was born May 20, 1943, in Ohio. A resident for 21 years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by her husband, Walter; one daughter, Holly Bower of Henderson; one sister, Sandy Giley of California; two brothers, Chuck Jordan of Illinois and Sherwood Jordan of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Virginia Calabra

Virginia Calabra, 81, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for 44 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; one daughter, Geri Stephenson of Bountiful, Utah; one sister, Jennie Balliano of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Terry Chaffin

Terry Chaffin, 61, of Henderson, died Tuesday in Phoenix. He was born April 19, 1942, in Culver City, Calif. A lifelong resident, he was a retired pipe fitter, a longtime employee at the Nevada Test Site, a Vietnam War Navy veteran and a member of Plumbers Local 525.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; one daughter, Lorna Hacker of Henderson; one son, Gary Chaffin of Cincinnati; two stepdaughters, Barbara Varick and Kathy Glick, both of Fresno, Calif.; one stepson, Phillip Altpeter in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Aviano, Italy; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. A private burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Pincus 'Pinky' Cohen

Pincus "Pinky" Cohen, 76, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born March 9, 1928, in New York City. A resident for nine years, he was a retired truck driver, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a member of the Veterans Boxing Association and the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen; four daughters, Rose Birch of Walden, N.Y., Dianne Schlaff of Nanuet, N.Y., and Jean Rodriguez and Debra Cohen, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son, Robert Cohen of Brooklyn; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 1:20 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Ruth Lindgren Dowd

Ruth Lindgren Dowd, 83, of Las Vegas, died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Illinois. A resident for 40 years, she was a clerk in the Clark County clerk's office, a former employee of the FBI in Washington, D.C., and a member of the Las Vegas Ski Club.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Dowd Jr.; two daughters, Ellen Harris of Las Vegas and Suzanne Livingston of Los Angeles; two sons, Walter Dowd III of Las Vegas and Charles Dowd of Atlanta; one brother, Robert Lindgren, and one sister, Doris Goss, both of Minnesota; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Griffith United Methodist Church, 1701 E. Oakey Blvd. A private burial will follow. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Steven Fuoco

Steven Fuoco, 39, of Henderson, died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born Feb. 4, 1965, in Michigan. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired janitor.

He is survived by his grandparents, Myrtle and Albert W. Schmidt of Taylor, Mich.

Susanne Galza

Susanne Galza, 75, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born May 18, 1928, in Aachen-Haaren, Germany. A resident for 38 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three sons, Johnny L. Galza, James W. Galza and Jason D. Galza, and one grandson, Travis D. Galza, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be from noon until a 6 p.m. service Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Lucille L. Hiatt

Lucille L. Hiatt, 92, of Ypsilanti, Mich., died March 25 in Ypsilanti. She was born March 10, 1912, in Chicago. A former Las Vegas resident from 1967 to 1996, she was a head housekeeper at the Royal Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Donald Kingman and Richard Hiatt.

She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Beebe of Livonia, Mich.; one stepson, Richard Hiatt of Uniondale, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Vermeulen Funeral Home, Plymouth, Mich., is handling arrangements.

Ralph Knott

Ralph Knott, 66, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Springfield, Ohio. A resident for seven years, he was a retired training manager for a package delivery service and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; three sons, Reginal Knott of Highland, Calif., Rene Knott of Germantown, Md., and Tyrone Knott of Destrehan, La.; one daughter, April Knott of Las Vegas; three sisters, Delores "Dusty" Brown of Dayton, Ohio, Lou Ann Elahee of Trotwood, Ohio, and Charlene Ross of Springfield, Ohio; one brother, Charles Knott Jr. of Dayton; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Janice Marie MaGee

Janice Marie MaGee, 49, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 21, 1954, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, George MaGee Jr., one daughter, Valencia Taylor, three brothers, Alexander Webb, Howard Webb and Quincy Webb, and three sisters, Jacqueline Webb, Sandra Mayo and Claudia Davis, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, 1117 N. F St. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Kathryn Alexis Natali

Kathryn Alexis Natali, 6, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 28, 1997, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her parents, Andre Shawn and Sylvia Natali; and two brothers, Michael and Patrick.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. A private burial will follow.

Edvin Erhard Pedersen

Edvin Erhard Pedersen, 71, of Las Vegas, died April 1 in Las Vegas. He was born July 15, 1932, in Denmark. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired auto mechanic, a member of the Danish Soldiers Club, Young Scandinavian Club, Guys and Gals and Thousand Island Resorts.

He is survived by one daughter, Carla Buckley of Rohnert Park, Calif.; two sisters, Edith Pedersen and Inger Mikkelsen, both of Copenhagen, Denmark; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled at 4 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

James E. Roberts

James E. Roberts, 77, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 6, 1927, in New Jersey. A resident for seven years, he was a retired punch press operator for a steel company and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Gelma; two sons, Jason Romero and Michael Romero; three daughters, Gloria Day, Florence Roberts and Yolima Romero; one brother, Charles Roberts; two sisters, Dorothy Ingel and Ruth McCloskey; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are pending in New Jersey. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling local arrangements.

Kenneth Ruhd

Kenneth Ruhd, 82, of Willow Street, Pa., died Tuesday in a Pennsylvania care center. He was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Wolf Point, Mont. A former Las Vegas resident, he worked for the Air Force as an electronics engineer, a former employee of the Civil Conservation Corps in Glacier Park, Mont., and a former Boy Scout leader in San Antonio.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret; one daughter, Edythe Metzger of Willow Street, Pa.; two sons, James L. Husband of San Antonio and Mark D. Husband of Plano, Texas; one sister, Laura Welzenbach; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

No local services are scheduled. Fred F. Groff Inc., Lancaster, Pa., is handling arrangements.

Maria Del Socorro Saldivar, 77, of North Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Mexico. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Socorro Garcia and Rosa Saldivar and Erica Martinez, and five sons, Sergio Saldivar, Jorge Saldivar, Jose Saldivar, Jesus Saldivar and Luis Carlos Saldivar, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Maria Sotelo of El Paso, Texas; four brothers, Jose Vega of El Paso, Cristobal Sotelo and Alberto Sotelo, both of Las Vegas, and Antonio Sotelo of Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Joreen Scott

Joreen Scott, 43, of Las Vegas, died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1961, in Warren, Ark. A resident for 42 years, she was a security officer.

She is survived by one daughter, Shantae Preston, her parents, Joe L. and Martha S. Preston, six brothers, Lorenzo Preston, Ray Charles Preston, John Harvey Preston, Jerry Louis Preston and Billy Ray Preston, and one sister, Ruth Thompson, all of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Sunday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Betty Lou Sisco

Betty Lou Sisco, 26, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 15, 1927, in New York. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; two sons, Scott Sisco and Grant A. Sisco; and five grandchildren.

Darlie Ford Sloan

Darlie Ford Sloan, 72, of Boulder City, died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 25, 1931, in Loveland, Ohio. A resident for 26 years, she was a clerk at Boulder City Hospital and a member of the PEO Sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by one son, Tom Sloan.

She is survived by three daughters, Lou Ann Peeler of Loveland, Ohio, Peggie Sloan of Henderson and Barbara Moore of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Grace Walters, 82, of North Las Vegas, died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born March 21, 1922, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her parents, Albert W. Schmidt and Myrtle Schmidt, and one sister, Judi Heady, all of Taylor, Mich.; two brothers, Kenneth Schmidt of Nokomis, Fla., and Alan W. Schmidt of Lincoln, Mich.; and one stepdaughter, Roberta Symon of Beaver Creek, Ohio.
