Applications due for court

CARSON CITY -- The state Judicial Selection Commission said today it has started to accept applications to replace District Judge Michael Douglas of Las Vegas, who was appointed to the Nevada Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Miriam Shearing, chairwoman of the commission, said the deadline for applications is May 20. The commission will conduct interviews the week of June 28 at the Supreme Court's office in Las Vegas.

The commission will nominate three candidates to Gov. Kenny Guinn, who will make the final appointment.

Applications are available at the Supreme Court offices in Carson City and Las Vegas and at the District Court administrator's office in the Clark County Courthouse.
