Architects lecture series scheduled
The American Institute of Architects lecture series will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Paul B. Sogg Architectural Building on the campus at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The guest speaker will be Victor Olgyay.
The Sustaining Nevada Lecture series is to inform Nevada citizens of the benefits and urgent necessity of integrating environmental design in the planning and construction of our communities and its effect on our daily lives.

Fitness program planned for seniors
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and Senior Dimensions' Fit for Life Club are co-hosting a semi-annual fitness assessments for seniors (ages 60 and up) from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive, Henderson.
Participation is free, but seniors must register in advance at either facility to pick up consent forms, which must be completed prior to testing.
Participants will be evaluated and assessed in a number of areas, including flexibility, balance, strength, endurance and agility. The purpose of the program is to generate awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity in older adults.
