Juan A. Aflleje

Juan A. Aflleje, 72, of North Las Vegas, died Wednesday. A retired Army first sergeant and Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, he was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Guam.

He is survived by one son, Michael Changwo of Las Vegas; three daughters, Bernadad Aflleje of Honolulu and Dolores Aflleje and Evangeline Changwo, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Jessie and Alfred, both of Inglewood, Calif., and David of Texas; three sisters, Anna of Guam, Gina of Inglewood and Frances of Texas; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a noon service Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Burl Criner

Burl Criner, 82, of Las Vegas, died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Western Grove, Ark. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired truck driver and a World War II Air Force veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Criner of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Rose Parbst of Bella Vista, Ark., and Laura Morgan of Rogers, Ark.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Lee Dreese

Lee Dreese, 86, of Indian Springs, died Monday in Indian Springs. He was born July 17, 1917, in Pennsylvania. A resident for eight years, he was a power company lineman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Edwin Dreese of Indian Springs and Donald Dreese of Lompoc, Calif.; one brother, Charles of Selinsgrove, Pa.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Indian Springs Baptist Church. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Lea E. Essex

Lea E. Essex, 41, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A telemarketer, she was born April 16, 1962, in Chicago.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara L. Essex of Chicago; and her father, Tommie L. Taylor.

Burial will be in Chicago. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Louis Godino Jr.

Louis Godino Jr., 34, of Las Vegas, died Sunday. He was born Nov. 8, 1969, in New York. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a maintenance technician.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Louis Godino Sr. and Linda Godino of Las Vegas; two sisters, Stacey Mucaria of New York and Dawn Godino of Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Michael Godino and Brian Godino, and his grandmother, Nancy Godino, all of New York.

Visitation was scheduled 2-4:30 p.m. today with services at 5 p.m. in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Rosario Gugliuzza

Rosario Gugliuzza, 74, of Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 4, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for nine years, he was a retired tire builder.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A.; two sons, Rosario Gugliuzza Jr. of Attica, N.Y., and Daniel Gugliuzza of Lockport, N.Y.; one daughter, Carmela Gugliuzza of Tonawanda, N.Y.; three stepsons, Jeffrey Hoth and Joseph Hoth, both of Las Vegas, and Kevin Hoth of Tonawanda; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until a 4 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Frederick LaVerne Hahn

Frederick LaVerne Hahn, 71, of Searchlight, died Monday in Boulder City. He was born April 26, 1932, in Battle Creek, Mich. A resident for 21 years, he was a caretaker for the federal government, employed by Sen. Harry Reid and was a retired 20-year veteran of the Air Force.

He is survived by one son, Dennis Hahn of Marion, Ohio; two daughters, Ricki Hahn of Bayview, Idaho, and Tina Wilde of Rathdrum, Idaho; and one grandson.

Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1, is handling arrangements.

Agnes C. Kinder

Agnes C. Kinder, 86, of Las Vegas, died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A resident for 35 years, she was a retired railroad clerk.

She is survived by cousins Barbara and Harold Pierce of Council Bluffs.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Joseph M. Mandela

Joseph M. Mandela, 89, of Las Vegas, died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born March 5, 1915, in Braddock, Pa. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired supervisor in the transportation industry.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Apalategui of Las Vegas and Karen Goloskie of Saugus, Calif.; one sister, Dorothy Phillips of Newport News, Va.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Michael Marano Jr.

Michael Marano Jr., 55, of Henderson, died Sunday in Henderson. He was born May 23, 1948, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for one year, he was a retired city sanitation worker, a member of the Knights of Columbus and Giglio Society of Brooklyn.

He is survived by his wife, Angela; and one sister, Camille Marano of New York.

His memorial service will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Marvin W. Marter

Marvin W. Marter, 69, of Boulder City died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 5, 1934, in East Detroit, Mich. A resident for 12 years, he was self-employed at Marine Power West Coast, was a Navy veteran and a member of American Power Boat Association.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine.

Sergio A. Martinez, 33, of Henderson, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1951, in Mexico. A resident for six years, he was a manager for an air quality company.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; two sons, Sergio Martinez of North Hills, Calif., and Chretien Martinez of Henderson; and three daughters, Brenda Martinez of San Fernando, Calif., and Leslie Martinez and Xitlalitl Martinez, both of Henderson.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Warren J. Meyer

Warren J. Meyer, 84, of Las Vegas, died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Nebraska. A resident for 11 years, he was a supervisor in the oil industry and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; two sons, Douglas and Chuck; two brothers, Norman and Dean; one sister, Shirley Paul; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Mountain View Lutheran Church, 9550 W. Cheyenne Ave. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Juan Alfredo Padilla-Perez, 23, of Las Vegas, died Saturday in Las Vegas. A resident for 2 1/2 years, he was born Jan. 6, 1981, in Mexico.

He is survived by his father, Alfonso Padilla-Murillo; his mother, Juana Perez; one brother, Bernardo Padilla; and one sister, Maria Elena Padilla.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Additional visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mexico.

Sophie J. Shonka

Sophie J. Shonka, 83, of Las Vegas, died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born May 14, 1920, in New Prague, Minn. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Kriz of Las Vegas and Carolyn Jakobe of Overland Park, Kan.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Morton S. Silverstein

Morton S. Silverstein, 86, of Las Vegas, died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Chester, Pa. A resident for 30 years, he owned a carpet sales business and was a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; one daughter, Helene of Las Vegas; two sons, Steven and Alan; and one brother, Norman.

Graveside services will be 8:40 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Andi Steffan

Andi Steffan, 55, of Las Vegas, died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 18, 1949, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 20 years, she was a food handler.

She is survived by one son, Micah Steffan; and one daughter, Genevieve Steffan, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Ula Taoipu

Ula Taoipu, 66, of North Las Vegas, died March 25 in a local hospital. A retired shipyard welder, he was born Aug. 25, 1937.

He is survived by his wife, Tupou; three daughters, Patricia Taoipu of California, Jennie Carson of Nevada and Lucy Te'O of Illinois; and five sons, Patrick Taoipu of California and Frederick Taoipu, Broaderick Taoipu, Darick Taoipu and Veldrick Taoipu, all of Nevada.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 9 a.m. Friday in Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa, 1200 N. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow at noon Friday in Palm Memorial Park.

Peninnah Jane Tiffany

Peninnah Jane Tiffany, 90, of Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born July 20, 1913, in Kansas.

She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Jr.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Griffith United Methodist Church, 1701 E. Oakey Blvd. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Kenny Weinbaum

Kenny Weinbaum, 61, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born May 10, 1942, in Boston. A resident for nine years, he was a professional gambler.

He is survived by one sister, Elinor Glener of Mashpee, Mass.; and his companion, Barbara Winpisinger of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Max William Wilcox

Max William Wilcox, 70, of Las Vegas, died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 10, 1933, in Caliente. He was a retired warehouse foreman for Greyhound Exposition Services and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Neva; one son, George Wilcox of Las Vegas; two brothers, Robert Wilcox of Las Vegas and Richard Wilcox of Verdi; and one sister, Suzanne Sloan of Aloha, Ohio.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Pioche. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Lee Vell Williams

Lee Vell Williams, 79, of Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 7, 1924, in Mississippi. A resident for 40 years, he was a Navy veteran and a member of the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by one son, Anthony Williams; and five daughters, Lillie Williams, Bonnie Williams, Dorothy Williams, Alethea Williams and Donna Williams.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Friday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Burial will be private.
