Polls close at 7 in BC recall vote
Tuesday, April 6, 2004 | 9:51 a.m.
Polls are open until 7 tonight in Boulder City's recall election.
Mayor Bob Ferraro and Councilman Mike Pacini are up for recall. Voters will decide whether to retain them or elect new people.
Former Councilman Bill Smith, who lost to Ferraro by 18 votes in June, is challenging the mayor in the recall. Pacini is being challenged by retired businessman Arn McLean.
The crux of the recall is the deficit at the city-run Boulder Creek Golf Course. Both Ferraro and Pacini supported the course, which since it has opened has been plagued by red ink.
Almost 3,000 voters cast ballots last week in early voting, Mayor Bob Ferraro said.
Both he and Smith expect the recall election will post a higher voter turnout than the June 3 general election.
In the June election, 4,990 people voted. The majority of people voted early.
