A 29-year-old man was killed in a two-car crash on Desert Inn Road near the Las Vegas Convention Center about 9:30 a.m. Monday, Metro Police said.
Lisa Crose, a 21-year-old Las Vegan, was eastbound on Desert Inn in her 1991 Honda Accord when she apparently lost control of her car, which jumped the median and entered the westbound side of the road about 240 feet west of Joe W. Brown Drive, police said.
Sheryl Ajifu, 49, was westbound in her 1994 Plymouth Voyager and the front of her minivan struck the passenger side of the Honda.
The Honda's front seat passenger, who had not been positively identified this morning, was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed after being partially ejected. He was the 32nd traffic death in Metro Police's jurisdiction this year.
Mauricio Miguel Padilla-Chio, 50, of Las Vegas, was also riding in the Honda and suffered serious injuries, as did Ajifu, police said. Crose was in critical condition on Monday, police said.
Detective Bill Redfairn, said it is not yet known why Crose's Honda wound up going into oncoming traffic, but evidence at the scene indicates that she was speeding.
