Letter: Revelations by Clarke damage administration
Saturday, April 3, 2004 | 7:07 a.m.
God bless Richard Clarke for telling the truth. If what Vice President Dick Cheney said March 22 on the Rush Limbaugh radio show about Clarke being "out of the loop" is true, then the Bush administration has been derelict in its duties to protect America against terrorism.
This weak defense raises more questions than it provides answers. Why would the czar of terrorism be kept out of the loop? Unless, of course, the administration had no intention of really concentrating on the real terrorist threat, but was far more interested in executing the Bush vendetta against Iraq.
If Richard Clarke was so incompetent, why wasn't he replaced several years ago? Why didn't the U.S. use full force to go after Osama bin Laden when we had the chance in Afghanistan, instead of holding out troops for the occupation of Iraq? The Bush gang has a lot of explaining to do to the American people.
