Treasures’ license hangs on prostitution charges

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman's son, Ross Goodman, is the defense lawyer for three of the four women who could cost the controversial strip club Treasures its city tavern license if any of them are convicted of prostitution.
One of the women represented by Ross Goodman, Barbara Lewis, on Wednesday had her trial scheduled for June 15. She was arrested Oct. 31 and charged with solicitation for prostitution and with violation of the city's erotic dance code.
On June 16, the Las Vegas City Council is to review the club's tavern license. Treasures must prove that it can operate without allowing prostitution and other illegal activities.
The council and Treasures previously agreed that if there was one conviction for prostitution at the club, the club would give up the license.
Lewis is one of four Treasures dancers arrested for alleged prostitution since September 2003.
Neither Ross Goodman nor the club's owners or managers returned calls seeking answers to questions about whether Treasures is paying the legal bills for the women.
Lewis is pleading not guilty.
On March 18, the City Council voted unanimously to give Treasures an additional three months before its tavern license review, scheduled for June 16.
Goodman and Las Vegas City Councilman Michael Mack, a paid consultant for Treasures, abstained from that vote.
