One man was dead and another was in critical condition this morning after a shooting in a parking lot of the Saratoga Palms East II apartment complex in the 2800 block of East Fremont Street near Charleston Boulevard, Metro Police said.
Residents reported hearing gunshots about 1:30 a.m.., and officers who responded found two men with multiple gunshot wounds, Lt. Tom Monahan of Metro's homicide unit said.
Both were taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where one was in critical condition as of 10 a.m. today. The other victim died about 5:30 a.m., police said.
Witnesses told police they saw a gray sedan followed by a light-colored Cadillac leaving the complex immediately after the shooting. The car was occupied by several black men, police said. One was described as being about 19 or 20 years old with short dark hair.
The Saratoga Palms East II complex was the scene of a triple murder May 27. Three teenage boys were shot and killed allegedly over a dispute involving marijuana, police said. Glenford Anthony Budd, 20, was arrested two days later.
