Regents consider name change

The University and Community College System of Nevada has asked the Board of Regents to explore a new name for the body to reflect the inclusion of its newest edition -- the Nevada State College at Henderson.
Among the possibilities are the Nevada Higher Education System and the University and College System of Nevada, said
A name change would cost an estimated $42,000 in administrative costs and to reprint letterhead, cards and brochures with the new name.
The Board of Regents will discuss the issue at its next meeting on Oct. 8 and 9 at the Desert Research Institute in Las Vegas.
"I think there just needed to be a discussion on what the name for higher education should be in Nevada, considering the name for the university system doesn't include the Nevada State College," Board of Regents Chairman Stavros Anthony said.
Nevada State College President Kerry Romesburg said he did not suggest changing the name and that he had no suggestions for a new name for the body.
"There are so many variations, I guess they are just going to throw it out there and see what comes to the top," Romesburg said.
