ARNOLD PARKER
High school: Cimarron-Memorial ('99)
Where he is now: Utah
Sport: Football
Year: Senior
Currently: A year removed from a difficult position change from safety to corner, Parker is settling in during his final year with the Utes. At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Parker is big for his left corner position, and he struggled some in 2002 after being named to the preseason All-Mountain West Conference squad, recording 40 tackles and two sacks while beaking up seven passes. He is back strong in 2003, already having notched 16 tackles in Utah's first three games, including a season-high seven stops at Texas A&M. He also can squat 445 pounds, the best of any defensive back at Utah.
Looking back: Parker earned Sun honors as the state player of the year in 1998 for his two-way contributions to Cimarron-Memorial's run to the 4A state championship. As a tailback, he rushed for the more than 1,500 yards. That includes a 192-yard performance in a state title game victory over Elko. He also played very well on defense as a linebacker.
