City, county join forces to attract casino

ST. LOUIS -- The city and St. Louis County announced today a plan to team up in an attempt to bring a riverboat casino to south St. Louis County and upgrade a casino on the Mississippi River downtown.
The proposal would seek one operator to bring a new casino to south St. Louis County and to take over the struggling President Casino on the Admiral in downtown St. Louis. The city and county would then split the revenues from the riverboats. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch first reported the deal in today's editions.
City officials hope a gaming company would be willing to take over the President if it is able to win a license for another potentially lucrative casino site along the Mississippi in south St. Louis County.
