Power contract at issue
Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 | 10:49 a.m.
The state Public Utilities Commission staff on Friday filed a motion to dismiss The Venetian hotel-casino's application to leave the Nevada Power grid and buy electricity elsewhere.
The commission will hear the case in a meeting today and could rule on the staff motion.
The recommendation to throw out the exit case comes just days after the commission rescinded an order that would have allowed four large power users, including MGM MIRAGE and Station Casinos, to buy power from Nevada Power competitors.
