Body discovered in storage bin

A man discovered a dead body stuffed in a plastic storage container about 1 a.m. Wednesday in the desert south of Valley View Boulevard and west of Hollywood Boulevard, Metro Police said.

An examination will be conducted by the Clark County coroner's office to determine the victim's gender, race and cause of death.

The man had been sitting in his car looking at the Las Vegas skyline when he saw the container on the side of a dirt road. He walked over to it and smelled a strong odor, Sgt. Kevin Manning said.

He went to a nearby business and called police. Patrol officers found a body inside wrapped in bedding.
