Man married in Las Vegas arrested in death of his wife

A man who allegedly killed his wife on their honeyman was arrested Tuesday outside The Mirage, police said.

Anthony Kircus, 30, of Michigan, allegedly beat his 47-year-old wife, Catherine Alexandrowicz, to death at a hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz. Her body was discovered Tuesday morning.

The couple married Sept. 1 in Las Vegas, said Metro Police Sgt. Ted Lee of the Criminal Apprehension Team. Two days later, they drove to Scottsdale, where Alexandrowicz's body was later found in a hotel bed.

Kircus returned to Las Vegas and was arrested by investigators from the Criminal Apprehension Team at about 2:30 p.m. on an Arizona murder warrant while standing in a valet line outside The Mirage.

It's not clear why Kircus, older brother of David Kircus, a rookie on the Lions' practice squad, headed back to Las Vegas after his wife was killed.

"We wondered that too," Lee said. "The only thing we could think of was maybe he was heading back to (Michigan). He didn't know what he was going to do."

Officer Scott Reed, spokesman for Scottsdale Police, said Kircus had been arrested in Michigan on Aug. 9 for beating Alexandrowicz. He was due in court Sept. 3.

The couple met in June, Reed said. After marrying on Sept. 1, they spent two days in Las Vegas then drove to Scottsdale.

Reed said on Tuesday, Kircus called "a friend, acquaintance or family member and told that person his new wife was dead."
