Letter: U.S. leadership at all-time low
Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 | 8:40 a.m.
While surfing TV stations recently, I saw people in California cheering loudly for Arnold Schwarzenegger. I saw President Bush telling the people to be patient about the state of our economy. I watched reports of more of our boys who are still getting killed and injured in Afghanistan and Iraq. And then there were stories about the 2004 presidential campaign, tax cuts, gas prices, unemployment, the deficit and violence in Israel. All this, in about 15 minutes of channel surfing.
I also learned that Bush cut his vacation short to return to work, which scares me. He alone is responsible for the chaos and at least 90 percent of all the problems we the people are now facing.
I worked on a list of accomplishments achieved by the Bush administration. The truth is, the incompetence, the rhetoric and the contradictions are so blatant, that such a list could not be compiled. We have reached an all-time low in leadership.
