Man found shot in the head
A man was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound around midnight Tuesday in the 200 block of Hinkle Street, Metro Police said this morning.
Neighbors called police after hearing four shots fired, Officer Jose Montoya, Metro spokesman, said. When police arrived they found the man in the street, and he had apparently been shot in the head, Montoya said.
The name of the victim had not been released by the Clark County coroner's office this morning.
Officers from Metro's homicide unit and gang unit will be investigating the death. Montoya said the gang unit was called out because of the location of the shooting.
United We Stand plates planned
Applications for the "United We Stand" license plate authorized by the 2003 Legislature, are now available through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The department must receive 1,000 applications before it starts producing the plate.
Applications are available from the department or online at www.dmvnv.com.
The plate will include the phrase "United We Stand" and incorporates an image of the U.S. flag in red, white and blue.
The plate is designed to commemorate Sept. 11. The fee for the initial plate is $61 and the renewal fee is $30. Proceeds will go to help emergency workers.
