Firm’s losses worry execs

FRANKFURT, Germany -- DaimlerChrysler's top managers were meeting today in Frankfurt amid worries about U.S. division Chrysler, which lost over $1 billion in the second quarter.

Chrysler spokesman Ken Levy said the meeting ahead of the Frankfurt International Auto Show was a regularly scheduled gathering and declined to specify the agenda. Levy dismissed as "speculation" news reports that additional restructuring measures would be decided at the meeting.

The meeting comes as DaimlerChrysler Chief Executive Juergen Schrempp was quoted as saying it will be "a difficult task" for the company's troubled division Chrysler to achieve the slight operating profit the company has forecast for it this year.
