The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free workshop focusing on job skills for teens ages 15-18 from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway.
Letter: Troops should come home now
It's the same with Bush supporters. Tell one it might have been better if Bush had kept after Osama bin Laden instead of going off on a war in Iraq and you get a reply like, "Saddam was a horrible man who killed his own people." What does Saddam's character have to do with the discussion?
Editorial: Stick to the plan
Last week the Las Vegas City Council fielded three requests for exemptions -- one from downtown's Fremont Street Experience and two from office complexes. They wanted to keep their ornamental fountains flowing. As written, the plan exempts only the large, artistic fountains on the Strip -- because they contribute to the valley's "core economic function." It's obvious to us the tiny fountains brought to the City Council for exemptions do not qualify. Nevertheless, the City Council postponed its answer for 30 days.

A 60-year-old pedestrian was hit by two cars and killed while trying to cross Sahara Avenue at Commercial Center shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, Metro Police said.
Police seek help finding suspect
Police said the victim got into an argument with a man shortly after 10 p.m. The man pulled a handgun from his waistband, hit the victim in the head with the gun and shot the victim once in the chest, police said. The victim, who was not identified, survived the attack.
