Single mom would like to send three children to camp
Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 | 3:59 a.m.
A single mother asks for help sending her three children to camp, saying she can afford to carry some, but not all, of the cost.
"My children have expressed to me many times their interest in attending camp," she writes. "Unfortunately, I am not able to afford the whole cost."
The Sun Summer Camp Fund provides scholarships for children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend camp. The Las Vegas Sun covers all administrative costs, so every donated dollar goes directly to camp tuition.
"I believe my children would benefit socially, educationally and emotionally by attending camp," the mother writes. "It would be a first time for them, and I know it would be something they will never forget."
Sometimes simple things, such as toasting marshmallows and singing around the campfire and spending time around camp counselors who are positive role models are the memories that children will carry with them through the rest of their lives.
By joining contributors to the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund you can make a difference in a child's life.
