'Serenades'
The ninth annual "Serenades of Life" concert, a benefit for the Nathan Adelson Hospice, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Flamingo Library Theatre, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Tickets are $35. 796-3133 or 938-3910.
Ben Vereen
Ben Vereen performs in "Best of the New York Stage" at 8 p.m. today at Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall on the UNLV campus. Tickets are $25, $35 and $50. 895-1575.
Spyro Gyra

Dance party
Local bandleader Joe Darro and local musicians Jay Orlando and the Cousins will play yesterday's favorite dance tunes for a dance from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Tickets are $12 the day of the event and $10 in advance. 229-6383.
Christian rock
Ascension, a contemporary Christian rock band, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Pkwy. The performances are free. 454-8484.
Amateur night
The Beach is now hosting a "Local Band Night" at 9 p.m. every Thursday at 365 Convention Center Drive. The event is free for bands and patrons. 731-1925.
Theater
'Words on Words'
The West Flamingo Acting Club presents "Words on Words," a culmination of months of work by the club, at 6 p.m. Thursday at the West Flamingo Center, 6255 W. Flamingo Road. Tickets are $1. 455-7742.
