Midrasha program planned for teens
Temple Beth Sholom is accepting registration for its Midrasha program, an Upper School program for eighth and ninth grade students.
The program will be conducted from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. every Tuesday at the temple, 10700 Havenwood Lane.
Midrasha is a project-based, extra curricular project designed to give teenagers a more thought-provoking perspective on Jewish life as they make the transition to adulthood. Students choose a project of personal interest and then receive the guidance and assistance necessary to complete it.
Tuition is $450, which will provide for all materials and snacks.

Government Center will host Taste
Taste, a celebration of cuisine, entertainment and art, will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday at the County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
The event will offer free continuous entertainment including the Fixx and Loverboy; cooking demonstrations; wine tasting; art exhibits; and top restaurants presenting tastes of their cuisine.
Admission is $10; free with advance tickets and for children 12 and under.

Church to host benefit golf event
The Community Church of Henderson (United Church of Christ) will host its fourth annual golf tournament beginning at 7 a.m. with a shotgun blast Sept. 13 at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City.
The tournament will benefit the continuing improvements of the chapel and day care center, 360 E. Horizon Drive, in Henderson.
Awards, lunch, and a raffle will be held at the Boulder Creek Clubhouse immediately following the golf play.
Admission is $100.
Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services
is offering a free lecture, "Self Hypnosis as a Means for Weight Loss and Smoking Cessation," from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. For more information, call 486-5743 or 486-6021.
