Harvest Festival set this weekend

The Las Vegas Harvest Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The festival showcases handmade American arts and crafts. Exhibitors will offer tradition and contemporary items for sale, including such items as wood carvings, jewelry, ceramics and pottery, hand painted clothing, leather wear, fiber art, hand blown glassware, wooden toys, original oil and watercolor paintings; metal stone and wood sculpture; lithographs, seasonal wreaths, hand-turned furniture and candles.

Admission is $7.50; $6.50 for seniors (62 years and older); $4.50 for children (6-12 years old). Receive $1 off admission with coupon from the newspaper or Harvest Festival flier; or a can of food for donation to Safe Nest.

Fiestas Patrias planned at Lorenzi

The eighth annual Fiestas Patrias will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lorenzi Park.

The festival will focus on celebrating Mexican Independence Day and Hispanic culture with exhibits, displays, food, top international talent as well as local artists.

A separate children's area and stage will also be featured. Among the events are, National Missing Children's Locate Center, Clark County Health District's Covering Kids, the Adoption Exchange, WIC, Sunrise Children's Foundation, PIRC, Art for Everyone, face painters, balloonists, children's characters along with other activities.

Run/walk will benefit Emerald Society

The third annual 5K run/walk to benefit the Police and Fire Emerald Society will begin with registration at 7 a.m. Saturday at Green Valley Ranch Station's Amphitheater, 2300 Paseo Verde Drive, Henderson.

The organization provides scholarships to the children of New York City police and firefighters' children as well as local candidates.

The cost for the run is $30 the day of the event; $20 now through Friday. The walk is $15 the day of the run; $12 now through Friday.

Healing Touch plans weekend workshops

The Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry program will hold workshops this weekend on healing ministry at the Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite No. 330.

The workshops are scheduled 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m, Saturday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Healing Touch is an energy-based therapeutic approach to health and healing built upon a philosophy of caring. The Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry program is a multi-level educational program that teaches hands-on healing from the Judeo-Christian scriptures.

Scrapbooking classes

are being offered to seniors (ages 50 and up) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at West Flamingo Center, 6255 W. Flamingo Road, to provide a creative, individualized way to organize memories, photos, clippings, and more. The cost is $15 and includes some supplies. Call 455-7742.
