A family of four escaped a fire in their eastern Las Vegas home about 3 a.m. Sunday, but a firefighter suffered a mild burn to his hand in the incident.
Las Vegas firefighters are investigating the cause of flames and smoke that caused $90,000 in damage.
Three members of the family were sitting on a swing on the front porch of the home in the 4400 block of Sherrill Avenue near Lamb and East Charleston boulevards when a driver stopped and told them the rear of the house was on fire, fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
The owner went inside and found his 9-year-old daughter asleep in a back bedroom and the interior of the house was filled with thick black smoke.
The firefighter who suffered a small burn to his hand was treated by paramedics and returned to duty.
