Jennie M. Babcock

Jennie M. Babcock, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Huntington, N.Y. A resident for 47 years, she was a retired hospital housekeeper, a member of the American War Mothers and a former member of the Eagles and Henderson Moose Lodge.

She is survived by one son, Joseph Babcock of Las Vegas; six sisters, Mabel Berry of Tennessee and Regina Daly, Sandy Behrns, Helen Lund, Mary Knight and Rita Greenfield, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Howard Afflerback of Santa Clara, Calif., Walter Afflerback of Henderson and George Afflerback of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Mildred A. Blicharz

Mildred A. Blicharz, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Milwaukee. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Myers and Linda Bueno, both of Henderson, and Susan Masek of Temecula, Calif.; one son, Edward Blicharz of Pulaski, Wis.; four brothers, John Kosidowski of Mercer, Wis., Tom Kosidowski of Tomahawk, Wis., Ed Kosidowski of Wisconsin and Charles Kosidowski of Germantown, Wis.; two sisters, Lillian Brent of Conover, Wis., and Janet Jashinsky of Westbend, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Mary M. Brown

Mary M. Brown, 76, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 21, 1927, in California. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired nurse and a member of the Emblem Club.

She is survived by one son, Michael Brown; one daughter, Margaret Higley; one sister, Louise Butler; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Wednesday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Olin V. 'Joe' Carey

Olin V. "Joe" Carey, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 10, 1916, in Arkansas. A resident for 46 years, he was a retired Marine Corps master sergeant and World War II and Korean War veteran and a 32nd degree Mason.

He is survived by one sister, Geneva Phillips of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister-in-law, Mary Duke of High Point, N.C.; and one niece, Carol Allred of Las Vegas.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

William Robert Carlos

William Robert Carlos, 67, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Joliet, Ill. A resident for 30 years, he was a social worker and probation officer for Clark County.

He is survived by one son, Brian Carlos; two brothers, Donald Carlos and John Carlos; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Ronald A. Collier

Ronald A. Collier, 63, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 8, 1940, in Eureka, Calif. A resident for 30 years, he was a casino executive and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Lisa Lemcke of Kirkwood, Mo., and Clarissa Schutz of St. Louis; and one brother, John H. Collier of Tallahassee, Fla.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Rudolph Guy Jirousek

Rudolph Guy Jirousek, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 18, 1925, in Illinois. A resident for seven years, he was a self-employed photographer and a member of the German-American Club.

He is survived by his wife, Johanna Frieda; one son, Dale Jirousek; one daughter, Dawn Hinson; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Nov. 12 in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 6670 W. Cheyenne Ave. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Hilda 'Maggie' Joseph

Hilda "Maggie" Joseph, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Joseph of Henderson and Kenneth Joseph of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be noon Sunday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Frederick Lloyd Lamb

Frederick Lloyd Lamb, 78, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. A truck driver, he was born May 11, 1925, in Buchanan, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Diane Smith of Las Vegas; and one son, Michael Lamb of Colorado.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

George Loper

George Loper, 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 4, 1932, in Lorain, Ohio. A resident for 21 years, he was a mechanical engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Rose M.; two sons, George Loper of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Luis Loper of Las Vegas; and one daughter, Kathy Schultz of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until a 2 p.m. service Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Melvin L. McMurray

Melvin L. McMurray, 34, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 8, 1968, in Roswell, N.M. A resident for 20 years, he was a laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; two daughters, Dovia Downs and Nathasha Nicole Yancy, one son, Dominick McMurray, his mother, Earline Crawford, two brothers, Samuel Nunn and Kevin Lay, two sisters, Ebony Lay and Gwen Dolyn Mathews, and his grandmother, Gladys Johnson, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Sunday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 1941 N. H St.

Marian L. Michaelis

Marian L. Michaelis, 78, of Las Vegas died Oct. 2 in a local care center. She was born May 5, 1925, in Michigan. A resident for 42 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffery of Las Vegas and Alan of San Diego; one daughter, Peggy of Las Vegas; one sister, Shirley Howe; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mercedes D. Perea

Mercedes D. Perea, 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Colton, Calif. A resident for 29 years, she was an APR monitor for the federal government.

She is survived by one son, Richard A. Perea; and one daughter, Barbara Jo Lockwood.

Ralph Richard Skeels

Ralph Richard Skeels, 57, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio. A resident for 31 years, he was a casino executive and a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Todd Skeels and Donald Skeels; three brothers, James Skeels, Roger Parks and Conroy Parks; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Harold L. Smith

Harold L. Smith, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born March 27, 1922, in Chicago. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired film industry processor, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Day Breaker Social Club.

He is survived by his wife, Emma of Las Vegas; and one daughter, Kathleen Hard of Illinois.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Laura C. Zahorak

Laura C. Zahorak, 18, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 27, 1985, in Houston. A resident for four years, she was a food service clerk, graduated in 2003 from Clark High School and was a member of the Young Adult Bowling Association.

She is survived by her parents, John J. and Cathy Zahorak, one brother, John R. Zahorak, and her boyfriend, Andrew Graf, all of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Richard and Mary Viola of Cocoa, Fla., John Zahorak and Andre Ray, both of Merritt Island, Fla., and Lorraine and Carl Hawkins of Tennessee.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.
