Letter: Secretive Bush team not taking full responsibility
Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 | 8:45 a.m.
President Bush had his 10th news conference Tuesday since he was appointed president. He stated, among other things, that " ... the world is more peaceful and more free under my leadership, and America is more secure."
By his own admission he does not read the newspapers, so what would he know? The war in Iraq should never have been waged until the mess in Afghanistan was under control.
How can anyone in the world feel safe with this secretive administration, which will take every opportunity to stretch the truth and refuses to take any responsibility for the mess it has created?
Remember the looting that took place after Saddam was deposed? Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld referred it as a "little untidiness." When is this "untidiness" supposed to end? It is devastating to read about all of the deaths of innocent Iraqis and members of our armed forces taking place after the president last May declared that major combat was at an end.
