Run will benefit police honor guard

The Henderson Police Officers Association on Saturday is sponsoring a Run for Honor, a 5K run/1 mile fun walk to benefit the Henderson Police Honor Guard.

The event will start at 8 a.m. at the Henderson Pavilion at Liberty Pointe, 300 S. Green Valley Parkway. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 7 a.m.

The top three finishers in each age division and overall race winners, both male and female, will receive awards. All participants will receive a T-shirt and race bag with coupons and promotional items.

Cost is $25 beforehand or $30 the day of the race. Proceeds will help buy equipment and cover travel costs for honor guard members to attend out-of-town funerals and memorials.

Riding 4 Kids takes place Sunday

The Police Officers Riding 4 Kids Run, a motorcycle ride raising money for children's charities, is scheduled Sunday.

Registration will be at 9:30 a.m. at Albertson's, 4120 S. Rainbow Blvd.

The motorcycle run takes the form of a poker run, in which riders travel to the various locations to collect cards to complete a poker hand. The best poker hands will win cash prizes.

In addition, major sponsor Timbers Hospitality Group is donating the grand prize, a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King 100-Year Anniversary Limited Edition motorcycle, which will be given away by means of a raffle.

Motorcycle run will help Animal Foundation

The NASCAR Cafe, in conjunction with the Las Vegas Harley-Davidson Motorcycle dealership, will host the "Dogs and Hogs" charity motorcycle run, which begins at noon Monday at Harley-Davidson, 3725 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The route will take them over Hoover Dam to Kingman, Ariz., onto Laughlin and back to the Las Vegas Strip. The event will benefit the Las Vegas Animal Foundation.

Registration is $100 for single riders; $150 for couples.

Riders can make their reservations at the NASCAR Cafe at the Sahara hotel or Las Vegas Harley-Davidson.

Ketter Shem Tov dinner set Sunday

The sixth annual Ketter Shem Tov award dinner hosted by Young Israel Aish HaTorah will be 5 p.m. Sunday at the Four Seasons hotel, to honor Milton I. Schwartz.

The event is a major source of funding for the programs that reach thousands of individuals in the Las Vegas Valley.

There are two ways to participate in the event, attendance at $225 or by purchasing an ad in the annual commemorative journal. Call 360-8909.

Antique Arms Show visits Riviera Thursday

The 42nd Las Vegas Antique Arms Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the Riviera's Royale Room.

More than 300 exhibitors will display thousands of collectible and sporting arms, fine knives, armor, western memorabilia and arms-related historical material during the three-day event.

is holding its annual Walker/Williams fund-raiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Jillian's in Neonopolis. The event is a banquet featuring state Sen.
