Stand Down set Wednesday
Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 | 8:44 a.m.
The 11th annual Stand Down will offer thousands of the Las Vegas Valley's homeless and down-and-out at least a free meal and potentially a lot more Wednesday.
The event, held every year at Cashman Center, draws dentists, physicians, employers, judges and even barbers who want to help the homeless.
Medical care is free. Judges will help people clear up their bench warrants for misdemeanor charges. Barbers will give haircuts. And some companies will try to locate jobs for those who need them. There will also be coats and blankets.
Last year's version of the event drew nearly 2,500 of the valley's 10,000 homeless.
The event is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
