HIV children will benefit from event
The first Just for Kids Walk, an event to raise awareness to the special needs of HIV/AIDS affected children and their families, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Grant Sawyer Gardens.
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and other community leaders will be among those walking with the children.
The walk course will include activities for the children, including exploration of Nellis Air Force Security Unit equipment and visits to the Natural History and the Las Vegas Fort Museums.

Nursing shortage subject of seminar
An Escalating Phenomenon: The Nursing Shortage -- Impact on Communities is the theme of a seminar scheduled 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive.
The public is invited to learn how a national crisis affects you and your loved ones.
The conference is open to all nurses, educators, nursing students, health care providers, and concerned citizens. No nursing or health care experience is required to attend the seminar.

NAACP schedules fund-raising banquet
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is hosting a fund-raising event at 6 p.m. Saturday at the MGM Grand Conference Center.
The banquet will bring together various community leaders, business professionals, and dedicated individuals who share a common vision of protecting civil liberties, ensuring equal access, eliminating racial barriers, promoting human welfare and supporting community improvements.
The feature speaker for the evening is Rep. Harold E. Ford, D-Tenn.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada
