Thomas J. Arstein

Thomas J. Arstein, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 28, 1931, in North Dakota. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired teacher, a member of the Elks, Los Padres Golfers, Sons of Norway and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor; one brother, Alvin, and one sister, Ida Vren, both of North Dakota.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled private arrangements.

Alan Richard Beach

Alan Richard Beach, 66, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born Feb. 18, 1937, in New York. A resident for three years, he was a parking booth attendant at the El Cortez.

He is survived by his wife, Joann; two sisters, Fran Deck and Vivian Mazzio, and one brother, Robert Beach, all of New York.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today in Alpine Village Clubhouse, 901 Brush St. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

John E. Bucy Sr.

John E. Bucy Sr., 77, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local convalescent hospital. He was born July 3, 1926, in Follansbee, W.Va. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired electrician for the federal government, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Shriners.

He is survived by one son, John Bucy Jr., and two daughters, Sandy Mitchell and Pamela Aurand, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Harry L. Bucy of Wintersville, Ohio; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Maxine Hackbarth

Maxine Hackbarth, 84, of Pahrump died Friday in a local hospital. She was born July 15, 1919, in Clarion, Iowa. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired office manager for a credit reporting firm, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kinsmen Relief Corps, National Association of Credit Women and was past state president and international officer of the Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by one son, Verne Hackbarth, and one daughter, Debra Hackbarth, both of Pahrump; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Verlean Wynn Hammond

Verlean Wynn Hammond, 72, of Las Vegas died Oct. 15 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Texas. A resident for 34 years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by four daughters, Annie Hammond, Shirley Butts, Connie Hammond and Vanessa Jimerson, one son, Melvin Hammond, and one brother, Isaac Wynn, all of Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Michael Coyt Hardy

Michael Coyt Hardy, 50, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born March 19, 1953, in Ripley, Miss. A resident for four years, he was a retail manager.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his mother, Elizabeth Hardy of Brandon, Miss.; and one sister, Karen Evans of Madison, Miss.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Pauline Highnote

Pauline Highnote, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1918, in Ambridge, Pa. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker, a member of St. Phillip's Altar Society and St. Anne's Foundation.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Mencum of Medford, Ore., and Carole Gambetta of Las Vegas; one sister, Peggy Everett of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be in California.

The family suggests donations to St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89104.

Bonnie Compton Kilbane

Bonnie Compton Kilbane, 57, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Feb. 14, 1946, in Springfield, Ill. A resident for 40 years, she was a hotel executive housekeeper.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Jr.; three sons, Maurice O. Riddle, Bill Lee Riddle and Michael Allen Riddle; one daughter, Janie S. Riddle, her mother, Sarah Compton, three brothers, David Compton, Robert Compton and Charles Compton, and one sister, Mary Compton of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Jean McElroy

Jean McElroy, 79, of Boulder City died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 13, 1924, in Zanesville, Ohio. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired hospital nursing assistant.

She is survived by one daughter, Debi Leon of Henderson; one son, Bill McElroy of Boulder City; one sister, Virginia Connolly of San Diego; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Christian Center, 571 Adams Blvd., Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Ray W. Ollila

Ray W. Ollila, 68, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Royal Oak, Mich. A resident for 43 years, he was an automobile mechanic, an Army veteran, a member of Elks Lodge 1468 and Eagles Lodge 1213.

He is survived by his wife, Bette; three daughters, Bonnie Thompson and Rae Ann Bennett, both of Las Vegas, and Debbie Larkin of Kearns, Utah; one son, Greg Olilla of Las Vegas; one sister, Gertrude Matthews of Mayville, Mich.; two brothers, Roy Ollila and Matt Ollila, both of Vassar, Mich.; five stepsisters; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Main.

Robert Arthur Rasmussen

Robert Arthur Rasmussen, 48, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born May 2, 1955, in California. A resident for 15 years, he was a heating and air-conditioning engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Ronda; three sisters, Jeane Kopke, Linda Cumming and Donna Rasmussen.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday in Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Cleo Oler Sprague

Cleo Oler Sprague, 82, of North Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 17, 1920, in Shelley, Idaho. A resident for 55 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lovell O.; two sons, Dwaine Sprague of Las Vegas and David Sprague of North Las Vegas; one daughter, Corrine Sprague of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Velma Giambo of Boise, Idaho, and Alta Plunkett of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional services are scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Friday in the Civic Center and Tonopah LDS chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Elizabeth Jane Turner

Elizabeth Jane Turner, 55, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 25, 1947, in New York. A resident for seven years, she was a cashier at a local casino.

She is survived by her companion, Theresa; her father, Charles Sr.; her mother, Jane Cinque; and one brother, Charles Turner.

Steve Valenzuela

Steve Valenzuela, 49, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born July 11, 1954, in Los Angeles. A resident for 15 years, he was a laborer.

He is survived by one son, Steve Valenzuela of Las Vegas.

Services will be 4-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
