Treasure Island celebration scheduled
Treasure Island will celebrate its 10th year anniversary Saturday with a breakfast and roundtable discussion to look at how Las Vegas has changed over the past 10 years.
Speakers at the event include Lt. Gov. Lorraine Hunt; Manny Cortez, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; and MGM MIRAGE President and CEO Jim Murren. MGM MIRAGE Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Alan Feldman will be moderator.
The breakfast and discussion will take place 10 a.m. until noon at the TI Ballroom AB in Treasure Island, 3300 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Church will host holiday craft event
The First Christian Church will hold its Holiday Market Craft and Gift event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, 101 S. Rancho Drive.
There will be one-of-a-kind art, original crafts, pottery, metal and glassware, vendors and holiday decorations.
The event will also offer specialty food items, bakery goods, homemade cinnamon rolls, entertainment and a barbecue dinner.
Proceeds will benefit various ministries of the church.

Skincare workshop planned in Spanish
A skincare and make-up workshop in Spanish will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas.
The workshop teaches the following: taking care of and protection for your skin, importance of applying moisturizers, anti-aging products, and easy make-up application for a glamorous look.
The workshop is presented by Maritza Smith a consultant of Mary Kay Beauty products.

Disability Awareness Day on tap Saturday
The Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living will host the 12th annual Disability Awareness Day at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Washington Ave.
The event is held to recognize the contributions and vitality of people with disabilities. More than 60 organizations servicing the disability community will join the festivities by offering on-site services and resources such as a complimentary "Wheelchair Wash and Minor Tune-up".

Senior center sets Oktoberfest sale
The Henderson Seniors Auxiliary will host its annual Oktoberfest craft sale starting at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Henderson Senior Center, 27 E. Texas Ave.
The event will feature live entertainment, a craft and bake sale, and raffle prizes. A traditional Oktoberfest meal, including hotdogs, bratwurst, chips and beverages, will be available for purchase starting at 10:30 a.m. for $3.
Proceeds from the event will benefit activities and programs offered at the center.
Crafters wishing to sell items may reserve a 6-foot table for $20.

The National Black Nurses Association

The Nevada Day Race for Miracles,
which supports pediatric care at University Medical Center, will begin with registration at 6 a.m. Saturday at Mountain Crest Park, 4701 N. Durango Drive. The Race for Miracles includes a 10K, 5K and 1-mile fun walk and family bike ride and a pancake breakfast for all participants. Call 383-2326.
