Man struck trying to cross Strip
A 75-year-old pedestrian was in critical condition at University Medical Center after a Ford Mustang struck him on Las Vegas Boulevard South near Riviera Boulevard about 1 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Francis Debeul, a tourist from Michigan, was trying to cross the Strip outside a crosswalk, police said. A 16-year-old driver tried to stop, but could not avoid the man, police said. A 17-year-old passenger in the Mustang received minor injuries. The accident was under investigation.
Teens critical after accident
Two eighth grade girls remained in critical condition Sunday at UMC after they were struck on Wednesday night.
Southern Highlands neighbors held a candlelight vigil Friday night for Adriana Lauzon and Tabatha Speas, both 13, after they were struck trying to cross the street.
Police were investigating the accident in which the driver, 24-year-old Summer Larkin, said she failed to see the girls, officers said.
