Jennifer Shubinski, a business reporter for the Las Vegas Sun and its sister newspaper In Business Las Vegas, has been honored by a child advocacy group in Texas for reporting she did in that state.
Shubinski received the 2003 Best Print Media Award from the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards.
The award was for several stories by Shubinski that appeared in the El Paso Times about the shortage of foster care and adoptive families in El Paso County, Texas, and how this frequently leads to siblings being split up.
Before joining the Las Vegas Sun and In Business Las Vegas in November 2002, Shubinski worked as a legal affairs reporter at the El Paso Times.
