Harry H. Asai

Harry H. Asai, 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born July 10, 1925, in Honolulu. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired civil service engineer and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Yong Sun; one daughter, Angie Asai, and one son, Robert Asai, both of Atlanta; and three brothers, Takayuki Asai of California, James Asai of Nevada and Kiyoharu Asai of Hawaii.

Graveside services will be 12:40 p.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

George Balcer

George Balcer, 74, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Redwood Falls, Minn. A resident for nine years, he was a retired accountant for an aluminum manufacturer, a Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank.

He is survived by his wife, Anne; one daughter, Jill Balcer of California; two stepdaughters, Cara Iddings of Henderson and Leah McCullough of Boulder City; one sister, Pat Rozatti of California; one brother, Ed Balcer of Minnesota; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

George T. Barrett

George T. Barrett, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. He was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Honey Grove, Texas. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired painter in the maintenance industry and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; four sons, Tom Barrett and John Barrett, both of Las Vegas, Bob Barrett of Kerville, Texas, and Phil Barrett of Salt Lake City; one daughter, Mary Franks of Mesquite; one sister, Edith Guss of Portales, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be noon Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Norma Jean Bitz-Kilman

Norma Jean Bitz-Kilman, 59, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born April 10, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio. A resident for 25 years, she was a hotel data entry clerk.

She is survived by her fiancee, Richard Stein of Las Vegas; one stepson, Kenneth L. Kilman of Temperance, Mich.; six stepdaughters, Linda Wangler, Barbara Mann, Kathleen Henry, Kimberly Synowczyk, Gina Krieger and Christine Kilman-Ruehle, and two sisters, Nancy Orzechowski and Donna Schrader, both of Toledo; one brother, Irving Bitz Jr. of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Daniel Curtis

Daniel Curtis, 64, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 7, 1939, in Vidalia, La. A resident for 61 years, he was a bail bondsman and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Daniel Curtis Jr. of Las Vegas; two daughters, Brooke Curtis of Las Vegas and Sheila of Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Olivia Green of Las Vegas; four brothers, Edward Curtis Jr. of Louisiana, Prentice Curtis and Ely Curtis, both of Las Vegas, and Archie Curtis of North Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bunkers Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Marlon A. DeAnda

Marlon A. DeAnda, 21, of Las Vegas died Thursday. He was born Dec. 11, 1981, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, Maria and Raul DeAnda, three sisters, Sonia Amezola, Martha DeAnda and Mayra DeAnda, and one brother, Sergio DeAnda, and his grandparent, Arcelia Rivera of Mexico.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way.

Paul Emil Haueter

Paul Emil Haueter, 78, of Boulder City died Sunday in Boulder City. He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Riverside, Calif. A resident for 18 months, he was a salesman at Foremost & McKesson Dairy for 19 years, a World War II Navy Seabee who served in the Pacific and was a member of Masonic Lodge 259 Evergreen, Riverside.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons, Tim Haueter of Atascadero, Calif., Paul Haueter of Los Osos, Calif., and Edward Haueter of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two daughters, Elise McKibbon of Carlsbad, Calif., and Marta Norton of Boulder City; two brothers, Alvin Haueter of Los Osos and Fred Haueter of Honolulu; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1, is handling arrangements.

Louis James Jefferson

Louis James Jefferson, 89, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1913, in Louisiana. A resident for four years, he was a laborer and a member of the Masons and Laborers Union.

He is survived by one daughter, Jessie Minton of Las Vegas; two sons, John Jefferson of Las Vegas and Carl Jefferson of Madera, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave., followed by burial in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Regina Dorothy Morgan

Regina Dorothy Morgan, 46, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1957, in Los Angeles. A resident for four years, she was a city government administrative assistant.

She is survived by her companion, Leroy Mays of North Las Vegas; her mother, Nancy Jackson of Las Vegas; one brother, Charles Harrell II, and one sister, Falice Harrell, both of Los Angeles.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Muriel H. Paulson

Muriel H. Paulson, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 16, 1919. A resident for 34 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin T.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Thomas D. Shea

Thomas D. Shea, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 9, 1925, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired retail store manager, a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Anita F.; two daughters, Carla A. Shea of Sacramento and Linda M. Kyminas of Las Vegas; three sons, Daniel T. Shea of Piedmont, Calif., and James P. Shea of John B. Shea, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Norine Morgan of Lafayette, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

William R. Surma

William R. Surma, 72, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born April 20, 1931, in Pennsylvania. A supervisor for a paint and glass manufacturer, he was a Navy veteran, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the American Legion, Elks and Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, Verda; two sons, Michael of Virginia and Edward and Jerry; one daughter, Marie Sharon; one brother, Leonard, and two sisters, Dolores Kido and Magie Simon, all of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

David Sweet

David Sweet, 53, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1950, in Madison, Wis. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired computer analyst and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Bar Mitvah'd at Congregation Beth El.

He is survived by his parents, Leon and Annette Sweet, both of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Jonathan Sweet of El Dorado Hills, Calif., and Thomas Sweet of Las Vegas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Kathleen A. Ward

Kathleen A. Ward, 51, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born May 23, 1952, in Atlantic City, N.J. A resident for 18 years, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, John; one daughter, Heather M. Allen, and one son, Brian D. Hubbell, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Deena Schmitz of Chicago and Cheryl Adams of St. Charles, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
