Letter: Death penalty should be banned
Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 | 8:55 a.m.
How barbaric it is in this country to allow the death penalty to exist.
Too many innocent people have been executed. Who are we as human beings to judge whether a person, guilty or innocent, should live or die?
There are too many flaws in the justice system. It has been proven that many innocent people are convicted. Sometimes authorities find out that a prisoner is not guilty and he is released, but only after having served years in prison.
It seems to me that being sentenced to prison is just punishment and equal to the death penalty.
It is so wrong of this country, because of a human error or faulty judgment, to send so many innocent people to death. If only the death penalty would be abolished from America.
