Letter: Statehouse is no place for a novice

Whatever happened to being qualified for the job at hand? One of our newscasters recently asked a guest if he thought retired Gen. Wesley Clark was qualified to run for president. The guest answered by saying, "Absolutely, if Schwarzenegger can run for governor of California, then Clark should run for president."
In my opinion that kind of comparison is not valid. Whereas I think Clark could handle the job at the White House, there is no doubt in my mind that Arnold is not qualified to be governor of California. A stumbling Gov. Gray Davis is much safer than a total novice. Arnold says he's a businessman. Not! He is strictly an investor, and a bad one at that.
I'm not making excuses for Gray Davis, but half the governors in the United States are in financial trouble. The job of leading California is too important to hand over to an actor who will only follow the Republican script. What happens in California is too important for Nevada to take lightly.
