Las Vegas native Robert Clive Jones was confirmed Thursday night by the Senate to serve as a U.S. District Court judge for Nevada. The Senate approved his nomination by voice vote.
President Bush nominated Jones for the spot in June.
Jones appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier last month to answer questions on his pending nomination and qualifications to serve on the court. He has served on the federal bankruptcy court since 1983.
Sens. John Ensign, R-Nev., and Harry Reid, D-Nev., spoke in support of Jones' nomination at his hearing in September.
The committee approved his nomination on Sept. 25.
