S2 Art Center exhibits movie posters
Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 | 8:42 a.m.
The S2 Art Center, 1 E. Charleston Blvd., today will unveil a series of antique-style lithograph posters from famous films.
Titled "100 Years -- 100 American Movie Poster Classics," the S2 series features "100 of the most memorable and striking movie posters of the 20th century," including "Casablanca," "Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars," "The Devil is a Woman" and "The Thief of Bagdad."
The series is part of an ongoing collaborative project between the S2 Art Group, the American Film Institute and Hollywood studios. All the posters have been remastered and recreated as a collection of editioned fine art lithographs.
The lithograph posters are also the same size as the originals, from the standard "one-sheets" (41 inches by 27 inches) to monstrous "three-sheets," such as a poster from "King Kong" that measures 81 inches by 41 inches.
The exhibit will be on display, beginning at 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. today.
