Donna L. Bowie

Donna L. Bowie, 53, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 11, 1949, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 40 years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by two daughters, Erica Bowie and Ementie Bowie, one son, Kevin Bowie, one sister, Clara Edwards, and three brothers, Sam Bowie, Joseph Bowie and Anthony Edmond, all of Las Vegas; her father, Spencer Hymon of Minnesota; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in New Light Baptist Church, 1165 Lawry Ave., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gladys E. Christian

Gladys E. Christian, 87, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Kennett, Mo. A resident for 61 years, she was a homemaker, and a member of the Desert Inn Country Club, Rotary Club, and Mesquite Club.

She is survived by one brother, Malcolm Greenway of Arkansas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Judith D. Daniels

Judith D. Daniels, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 6, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired computer board solderer.

She is survived by one daughter, Mindy Lynn Rose, two sons, Donavan Rose and Duane Rose, her father, Vincent Daniels, and one brother, Dennis Daniels, all of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

The family suggests donations to St. Jude's Ranch for Children Inc., 100 St. Jude, Boulder City, NV 89005, or to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Lillian Dibaise

Lillian Dibaise, 69, of Henderson died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born May 24, 1934, in Daisytown, Pa. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Angelo; one son, Angelo E. Diabaise Jr. of Bellmore, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Westburg, N.Y. Hites Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

John Gentz

John Gentz, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 17, 1930, in Kenosha, Wis. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; one daughter, Delores Milligan of Kenosha; one son, Mark Gentz of Broomfield, Colo.; one stepson, Allen Findling of San Bernardino, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Christine Perry, and one brother, Duane Gentz, both of Kenosha; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Janice S. Hall

Janice S. Hall, 67, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 48 years, she was in the real estate business and was founder of the Dancing Buddies.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Hall of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Karen Johnston of Logandale and Deborah Lombardo of Tucson; three sons, Mark Hall of San Diego and Robert Hall and Craig Hall, both of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Esther Herskowitz

Esther Herskowitz, 85, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born June 14, 1918, in New York. A longtime resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Eunice Foreman of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Pinelawn, N.Y. Hites Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Herman Lanier

Herman Lanier, 80, of Henderson died Wednesday in Boulder City. He was born April 24, 1923, in Chinquapin, N.C. A resident for 14 years, he worked for a telephone cable company and was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Masumi; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until noon services Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Frances M. Leffler

Frances M. Leffler, 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Argyle, Minn. A resident for 17 years, she was a retired housekeeper.

She is survived by three daughters, Janice Lester of Harlingen, Texas, Joni Leffler-Gonzalez of Early, Texas, and Judy Murphy of Green Bay, Wis.; one son, Robert Leffler of San Francisco; two sisters, Alyce Cecka of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Mary Strand of Las Vegas; special friends Eddie Corcoran and Emma Palmer of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be held in Minnesota. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Roger Lynn Lowry

Roger Lynn Lowry, 49, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. Born Oct. 27, 1953, in Elk City, Okla., he was a mail carrier.

He is survived by his wife, Kolleen; one son, Chris Lowry of Oklahoma; three stepsons, Shayne Weinand of California, Brandon Flood of Georgia and Mr. T of Nevada; two stepdaughters, Crystal Wilkes of Wyoming and Bonnie Flood of Nevada; his father, Wayne Lowry of Oklahoma; and three brothers, Charles Lowry and Donnie Lowry, both of Oklahoma and Timmy Lowry of Alaska.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. services Sunday in Hites Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

Hattie Matthews

Hattie Matthews, 81, of Las Vegas died Sept. 24 in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Mississippi. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Josephine Shelby of Las Vegas; one brother, A.B. Collins, and one sister, Rosie Matthews, both of Mississippi; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Burial is pending.

Emma W. Oliver

Emma W. Oliver, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Tallavast, Fla. A longtime resident, she was a nurse assistant.

She is survived by two sons, Allen Griffis and Curtis Griffis, and one daughter, Judy F. Struthers, all of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Sadie Gladys Orange

Sadie Gladys Orange, 86, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 1, 1916, in Lake Providence, La. A resident for 60 years, she was a retired hotel supervisor and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two sons, Clark Lucas of Detroit and Ike Johnson Jr. of Las Vegas; one daughter, Cleotha Kelley of Burke, Va.; five sisters, Georgia Lawson of Ft. Washington, Md., Clara Carpenter of Lake Providence, La., Loraine Finley of Los Angeles and Earnestine Foley and Ruth Walls, both of Compton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., and one hour prior to 1 p.m. services Monday in New Bethel Baptist Church, 400 W. Adams St., followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Noah Rosenblum

Noah Rosenblum, 22, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. Born Feb. 6, 1981, in California, he was a college student.

He is survived by his parents, Florence and William Rosenblum, both of Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Burial will be in Los Angeles. Hites Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

George A. Russell

George A. Russell, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for 40 years, he was a gaming supervisor and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Julie DiGiacomo, Melissa Russell and Michelle Russell; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by a graveside service.

The family suggests donations to Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, 1501 N. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas.

Norma Ray (Schneiter) Green

Norma Ray (Schneiter) Green, 89, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Boulder City. She was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Nyssa, Ore. A resident for 14 years, she was an office manager in school administration.

She is survived by one son, Thomas R. Green of Boulder City; two daughters, Bonnie R. Hughes and Linda Kay Isom, both of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Salt Lake City. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Doris Shoemaker

Doris Shoemaker, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 11, 1915, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker and leader of the Slippery Rock Youth Club.

She is survived by one son, Wendell; one brother, Bucky; one sister, Frances; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

John I Straub

John I Straub, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Monterey, Calif. A resident for six years, he was a retired property manager and a member of the Scottish Rite and Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A.; one son, Michael D. Straub of Paonia, Colo.; one sister, Louise Reed of Walnut Creek, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

June A. Thiel

June A. Thiel, 60, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born June 22, 1943, in Wisconsin. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred; two sons, Paul and John; three daughters, Gloria, Lorine and Nancy; five brothers, Arlin, Percy, Laurel, Lou and Fred; three sisters, Lasenta, Darly and Lavon; and eight grandchildren.

Walter J. Timmsen

Walter J. Timmsen, 64, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 17, 1938, in California. A resident for six years, he was a carpenter, Navy veteran and a member of Local 1977.

He is survived by his wife, Lonie; three sons, Michael, Erick and Lucas; two daughters, Michelle Hobba and Mary Timmsen; one brother Edward "Charlie" Timmsen; one sister, Carolyn Amory; and seven grandchildren.

Ranalda H. Vargas

Ranalda H. Vargas, 54, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 1, 1949, in Germany. A longtime resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her mother, Guta Czosniak Opas of Southfield, Mich.; and her father, Michael Opas.
