Woman still in critical condition

The 40-year-old wife of a man charged with shooting both her and her sister remained in critical condition at University Medical Center on Thursday, North Las Vegas Police spokesman Justin Roberts said.

The 24-year-old sister's condition was upgraded to serious.

Gustavo Meija-Ayala, 50, was taken into custody about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at a house on Hubbard Street in Las Vegas, near East Lake Mead and North Lamb boulevards, Roberts said.

Police allege Meija-Ayala shot them in their faces, necks and torsos.

The shooting occurred shortly before 3 p.m. at the family's home in the 2700 block of Bello Drive near Canoga Street and North Pecos Road.

Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots Tuesday afternoon and saw a man leave in a light-colored sedan with two or three other men, Roberts said.

The couple has three teenage boys living at home.

In December 1996 Meija-Ayala was convicted on one count of domestic battery, Roberts said, but he has no further criminal record.

Slain man is identified

A man fatally shot early Tuesday at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of East Fremont Street has been identified as Ralph Edward Manor, 26, the Clark County coroner's office said this morning.

Manor was one of two men shot at the Saratoga Palms East II apartment complex. Another man is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds at University Medical Center. No arrests have been made.

Witnesses told police they saw a gray sedan followed by a light-colored Cadillac leaving the complex immediately after the shooting, occupied by several black men.

Body found in Glendale is ID'd

A body found along a road in Glendale, about 45 miles northeast of Las Vegas, on Sept. 22 has been identified as Genia Polischuk, Metro Police said.

The remains were discovered near an Interstate 15 exit in Glendale, Metro Homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.

Metro Police are looking for a man

who robbed a change woman at gunpoint at a southwest Las Vegas grocery store about 11 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect is described as 18 to 22 years old, 5-feet-9 with a medium build. He was wearing a light-colored baseball cap, jeans, sneakers and a long sleeve gray shirt with black sleeves.
