WEEKEND EDITION Nov. 22 - 23, 2003
The Clark County Fire Department is celebrating its 50th anniversary today 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with an open house at Station 18, 575 E. Flamingo Rd.
An open house will include tours of the station, displays of old photographs, puppet shows and free refreshments.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet firefighters and see emergency apparatus, meet chiefs and retired personnel and even get a look at robots. SafeKids Coalition will be present with a child car seat check station available to all who attend.
"It's an open house located at our main headquarters, which I believe is the largest fire facility in Nevada," said Bob Leinbach, Clark County Fire Department spokesman.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served and health tests will be available, Leinbach said.
Parents and children of all ages will have fun at the event, Leinbach said.
"There's going to be a learning station for kids to do some things that are fun and educational," he said. "We'll also have our arson dogs. People can come and learn and have fun and get up to see the fire engines up close."
