The state is $16,000 richer today from sales of unclaimed property on eBay, state Treasurer Brian Krolicki said.
He said he was delighted with the response to the first auction and that the state will use eBay again next month to auction off more items.
The 24 items attracted nearly 700 bids, he said.
A $20 double eagle 1891 gold coin produced the highest bid, $6,100. A Los Angeles Lakers basketball jersey, No. 32, with a signature of Magic Johnson, netted $201 even though the signature of Johnson was not authenticated.
Krolicki said some valuable jewelry will be auctioned off in December.
Under law the treasurer must auction off items found in safe-deposit boxes that have not been claimed within one year of being turned over to his office.
