Viewing scheduled Friday for Vegas musician Trenier

Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 | 11:01 a.m.

A viewing for longtime Las Vegas entertainer Claude Trenier, leader of The Treniers rock, rhythm and blues group, will be noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

There will be no services, his manager, Ken Sands said.

Trenier died Monday of cancer at Nathan Adelson Hospice. He was 84 and a Las Vegas resident of 55 years.

There will be a second viewing Monday in Los Angeles for Trenier. Burial will be Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Los Angeles, Sands said.

Trenier's group was one of the first black acts to perform on the Strip. They overcame segregation policies of the 1940s and '50s to become the longest running act on the Las Vegas lounge circuit.
