Conservation going well

Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 | 10:22 a.m.

Southern Nevada's water users are conserving water at a greater rate than last year, the regional water agency reported Wednesday.

Vince Alberta, spokesman for the Southern Nevada Water Authority, said the demand for water in September was down 11 percent from the same month last year. In October the demand level was up, but not much -- less than 0.5 percent.

When seasonally adjusted to take account for rain levels and other weather factors, the numbers showed water demand dropped 10.2 percent in September from the same month last year, and a decline of 10.4 percent in October.
