Amey Alesna

Amey Alesna, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born April 17, 1927, in Honolulu. A resident for three years, she was a retired school district food manager.

She is survived by her husband, Les; four daughters, Nadine Robertson and Julie-Ann Parker, both of Hilo, Hawaii, Ann McClellan of Lynnwood, Wash., and Kim Dickinson of Redmond, Wash.; four sons, George Fontaine of Phoenix, John Fontaine of Kailua, Hawaii, Alfred Alesna of Bellingham, Wash., and David Fontaine of Las Vegas; one sister, Juanita Cardus of Honolulu; two brothers, James Noa of California and John Noa Jr. of Wainanalo, Hawaii; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled at 1 p.m. today in the LDS Lorenzi chapel, 221 S. Lorenzi St. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., handled arrangements.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

Veva E. Bajo

Veva E. Bajo, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Loyal, Wis. A resident for two years, she was a retired executive secretary in the concrete industry.

She is survived by her husband, John; one daughter, Diane De La Paz of Las Vegas; one sister, Sarita Ward of Belleville, Wis.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Anne T. Benitez

Anne T. Benitez, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 2, 1923, in Puerto Rico. A resident for 14 years, she was a court reporter.

She is survived by two sons, Sixto Benitez of Pasadena, Calif., and Ronald Benitez of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, RoseMarie Benitez of Long Beach; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until a 3 p.m. service Saturday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Burial will be private.

Shirley Curson

Shirley Curson, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for seven years, she was born Nov. 6, 1919, in New York.

She is survived by two sons, Art Curson and Robert Curson, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Stanley Goldman of Massachusetts; and one sister, Roz Liss of New York.

Anthony Paul Blume

Anthony Paul Blume, 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born June 29, 1950, in Jefferson City, Mo. A resident for 15 years, he was a resettlement director for Catholic Charities.

He is survived by one daughter, Katelyn Blume of Las Vegas; his mother, Pauline Blume of Jefferson City; two sisters, Marilyn Carroll of Des Moines, Iowa, and Janet Renkoski of Leavenworth, Kan.; and one brother, Kevin Blume of St. Louis.

Services will be in Jefferson City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Alfred Brown Jr.

Alfred Brown Jr., 67, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. He was born July 4, 1936, in New Orleans. A resident for 32 years, he was a school district counselor.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; three daughters, Cassandra Allen, Candace Cook and Cherie Brown, two stepsons, Derrick Johnson and Erick Johnson, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Wayne Spencer Brown and Spencer Brown, both of Los Angeles, and Leroy Brown of Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Carol Jones of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled two hours prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Word of Life Christian Center, 3520 N. Buffalo Drive. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Robert William Ely

Robert William Ely, 61, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 10, 1942, in New York. A resident for 35 years, he was a commercial installer for Sprint, an Air Force veteran and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 396.

He is survived by his wife, Molly; two sons, Damon Ely and David Ely; three daughters, Rene Ely Ryneveld, Adrianna Ely and Austyn Ely; and one sister, Maria Maresca; and four grandchildren.

Lillian Goodspeed

Lillian Goodspeed, 91, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Aug. 15, 1912, in Mississippi.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen Duncan of Riverside, Calif.

Rickey S. Griffin

Rickey S. Griffin, 45, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 9, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio. A resident for seven years, he was a retail manager for a clothing store and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Starletta; two sons, Derek Powell of Reno and Damion Powell of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Scott Andrew Harrison

Scott Andrew Harrison, 43, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 16, 1959, in New York City. A resident for seven years, he was a children's retail salesman in New York , worked at the Nassau County Courthouse on Long Island and most recently worked at The Venetian. He graduated from St. Agnes Cathedral High School, Rockville Centre, N.Y., and spent one year at the New York School of Fashion and Design.

He is survived by his parents, Loretta and Lou Harrison Sr. of Las Vegas; one sister, Cheryl Pearson of Midlothian, Va.; and two brothers, Craig Clark of Queens, N.Y., and Louis Harrison Jr. of Spencer, N.C.

Clarence W. 'Bud' Harvey Jr.

Clarence W. "Bud" Harvey Jr., 94, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born June 7, 1909, in California. A resident for 35 years, he was a refrigeration repairman.

He is survived by his wife, Augusta L.; two daughters, Betty Botsford of Phoenix and Carol Shelby of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Earl H. Hayes III, 53, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1950, in Missoula, Mont. A resident for 53 years, he was a hotel pit supervisor, a Vietnam War Army veteran, a member of the National Rifle Association and a charter member of the Rio.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy A.; three daughters, Amy Swogger and Audrey Hayes, both of Las Vegas, and Sharon Hecht of Oceanside, Calif.; two sons, Earl Hayes and Mike Caruso, his mother, Betty Hayes, and one brother, Dale Hayes, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lynn Harmon of Murrieta, Calif., and Tami Worpell of Las Vegas; and 10 grandchildren.

Mabel 'Janet' Ireland

Mabel "Janet" Ireland, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in London. A resident for 23 years, she was a retired musician and a member of the Musicians Union.

She is survived by five daughters, Hilary Blanchard of McKinleyville, Calif., Janet Trail of Greensboro, N.C., Cathy Ireland of Mundelein, Ill., Debbie Bott of Sauk County, Wis., and Julie Wochholz of Corona, Calif.; one son, Robert Ireland Jr. of Elmhurst, Ill.; and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

William Collin Jacobs, 55, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 18, 1948, in Salina, Utah. A resident for 24 years, he was a hotel computer specialist and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; one son, G. Clell Jacobs II, and one daughter, Bonnie Brit Jacobs, both of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Steven Mitchell of Las Vegas and Michael Mitchell of Washington, Utah; his father, G. Clell Jacobs, and one brother, Gerald Clell Jacobs, both of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Miriam Esther Kern, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 3, 1935, in New York. A resident for 34 years, she was a dispatcher for an automotive dealer.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Gannon of Las Vegas and Janice Sizemore; one sister, Paula Gabay; and two grandchildren.

Emerson John McAteer, 78, of Boulder City died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Collingwood, Ontario. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired mining engineer for Echo Lakes Mines and a veteran of the Canadian Merchant Marines.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; one daughter, Barbara Robinson, and one son, Ken McAteer, both of Alberta; two stepdaughters, Carol Ozzimo of Edgewater, Fla., and Dorothy Topf of Canyon Country, Calif.; one stepson, Edward Surprenant of Carmel Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Donalda Baroli of Reno, Clara Rumley of Thornbury, Ontario, and Aleda Kinsey of White Horse, Yukon; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Patrick Michael McCafferty of Las Vegas and William Alton McCafferty Jr.; one daughter, Melanie Carol McCafferty.
