Local bank posts strong results

BankWest of Nevada reported today a 50 percent increase in third-quarter earnings, profiting on new business and higher deposits.
The independent bank, which has five offices in Clark County, said net income rose to $3.7 million from $2.5 million in the year-ago quarter. At quarter end, loans totaled $517 million, a 16 percent increase from a year ago. Deposits rose 38 percent to $892 million.
Total assets rose 51 percent during the period to $1.14 billion, BankWest said.
BankWest provides commercial financial services to small and middle-market businesses and banking services to proprietors, employees, and executives.
