Fishing report: Weather puts damper on lake’s fishing

NDOW creel census clerks said that fishing pressure continued to be low due to the weather front that came through the area.
A couple fishing from a boat in the Overton Beach area near the Overton Arm was successful landing 16 striped bass that ranged 14-16 inches.
A few catfish that averaged 2 1/2 pounds were also taken. A Tilapia that weighed in at two pounds was also caught. All fish were taken with anchovies.
Anglers fishing for largemouth bass in the Echo Bay area reported that their success rate was low. No fish were taken in the area.
Shore anglers said their success rate dropped from the previous week as well. A few striped bass that averaged 18 inches were taken with anchovies.
Anglers fishing both Cold Springs and Haymeadow Reservoirs were successful landing rainbow trout. A few trout that measured 15-16 inches were taken.
Anglers were very successful landing stocked rainbow trout that averaged 13 inches. The fish were taken with PowerBait and night crawlers.
